The Main Issue With Driving License Category A1 And What You Can Do To Fix It

Driving License Category A1

Driving License Category A1 is a permit to drive motorized two-wheeled vehicles. It permits you to drive mopeds or small motorcycles with an engine power of less than 11 kW.

The procedure for obtaining this license is a bit different from other categories. Let's take a look at the steps.

Prerequisites

You must be at minimum 16 years old in order to get a driving license category A1. This license permits you to drive light motorcycles while categories A2 and A are for larger motor vehicles. You must also pass a first-aid course and theoretical training based upon the full program. This is available from various driving schools. Prices can vary, but all of them follow the same curriculum.

The practical training consists up of several driving lessons. The classes last between three and four hours each. The instructors will instruct you on the fundamentals of your bike and the basic rules of the road. The amount of time you spend training will depend on your performance and abilities, but the curriculum stipulates at least five hours of instruction on roads that are federal and four hours of instruction on country roads. You also have to take part in several special riding lessons, which are designed to help you improve your abilities in difficult situations.

Anyone who wants drive vehicles in category C must hold a driving license of category B or above. A person who has a category B licence can continue to learn for category A1 using an easier program. However they must complete at least ten theoretical lessons and ten driving classes in the driving school. This is not possible for anyone who has a category A licence, which is why the instruction for this category begins at an earlier age.

Driving License Category A1 is a great option for teenagers looking to take control of their own vehicle or for adults who have been driving for some time but are looking for new ways to get around. The restrictions on this type of license are designed to ensure the safety of everyone involved. You can get them removed when you prove you're able to safely drive larger vehicles.

You must possess a valid medical certification in addition to your driver's license. Depending on your health you may be required to pass an eye exam or other tests. You can also upgrade your licence by adding an endorsement. This usually involves passing a knowledge test as well as, sometimes, a skills test.

Training

To obtain a Driving License Category A1, you must pass both the theory and the practical test. In addition to that you must take part in seminars and receive instruction. This training will teach the fundamentals of motorcycling including traffic laws and rules. You can apply this knowledge when you are driving. During the course, participants will be familiar with the test materials that are general to all tests and the addition that includes the special requirements for the category of licence.

After having passed the theory and practical test, you are allowed to drive a vehicle up to 125cc. This includes tricycles, motorcycles and mopeds with three or four wheels. The vehicle must not weigh more than 400kg without a load or carry up to 750kg. You must also be 16 years old in order to get a license for this class.

You can upgrade your Category A1 driver's license to full category A by the age of 20 if you had a subcategory A2 licence for two years. This allows you to drive vehicles with the maximum authorised mass (MAM) of up to 750kg, as well in subcategory A and A1 motorbikes. To tow trailers with an authorized maximum mass (MAM) over 750kg, you must hold a Category E licence.

In Belgium, you can only ride a moped or motorcycle with four or three wheels if you have a full category A licence. You can drive a full category A1 motorbike when you possess an A1 full category or a full A2 licence. In some countries, you can get easier access to higher licence categories by first riding smaller-powered motorcycles. For instance, in Germany, after two years of experience in Category A1 - motorbikes that are up to 11 kW it is only necessary to pass a test in the form of a practical instead of a test in theory for upgrading to category A2. In Austria, after five years of education (with a total duration of 9x1.5 hours) it is possible to pass the test for a full A licence.

Theory test

The Driving License Category A1 test is a two part test that includes both a theoretical and practical portion. It is designed to give you an understanding of the highway code and driving abilities. You must pass both tests to obtain your driving license. You can take your tests at any time prior to or following the completion of the compulsory basic training (CBT).

The theory test portion includes 50 multiple-choice answers which you have to correctly answer. It is recommended to prepare well for the test before taking it and to attend a theory course at an accredited driving school or a motorcycle training centre. You can also practice answering questions online.
